Participation in the BRITEC project
The EA team had the opportunity to collaborate with the Bringing Research Into The Classroom (BRITEC) project. The aim of the BRITEC project is to introduce the citizen science approach at schools as a way of engaging students in scientific research.
During this project, EA shared the experiences they gained from participating in the BigO project as a citizen science idea/good practice for exploitation at schools, contributing to further dissemination of the project.
In addition, the students collect and analyze data on their own dietary habits and that of their peers. The students get to collaborate with experts in the field of healthy nutrition and Big Data. This way, the students are introduced in research on nutrition and Big Data.
On 6 September, three EA members participated in a meeting at the 1st secondary school of vrilissia. The goal of the meeting was to get familiar with each other projects. The EA members, all involved in the BigO pilots, shared their experiences from implementing the BigO project at EA schools. In addition, they got to learn more about the BRITEC project and its goals.
