Ioannis Pagkalos

Ioannis (Ion) Pagkalos is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Nutritional Sciences & Dietetics at the International Hellenic University, teaching e-Health & Nutrition Informatics. He holds a PhD from the Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.
He is a senior researcher with 15+ years of experience in designing, implementing and managing solutions for over 25 EU- and state-funded research projects in the areas of e-Health, e-Justice and Nutrition Informatics (e.g. WHO COSI, JANPA, epSOS, e-SENS, CEF Health, NutriHeAl etc.). His current research interests include the applications (and implications) of Classic and Semantic Web Technologies in interdisciplinary spaces, with a particular interest in Online Social Networks and Nutrition Information Systems. He has published over 40 scientific articles in academic peer-reviewed journals and conferences in these areas.
